Neighborhood Spotlight: Sylvan Park

When looking for your new home, it’s true that Nashville has something for everyone. Whether you’re a young professional buying your first house or a family searching for the best fit for your kids, our Neighborhood Spotlight series gives you an insider’s perspective of the top areas in Music City to live right now.

First up: Sylvan Park. Located on the west side of Nashville but still a quick drive to downtown, this neighborhood has grown rapidly in the past few years and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. The perfect blend of neighborhood hospitality and thriving hotspot, Sylvan Park has a true sense of community that would make even Mr. Rogers proud. Won’t you be our neighbor?

What to do

Sylvan Park is perfect for those with an active lifestyle who don’t want to compromise outdoor spaces for downtown proximity. Boasting the beautiful Richland Creek Greenway that includes a loop around McCabe Golf Course, it’s perfect for walking your pet and then grabbing a bite at one of several dog-friendly restaurant patios. Sylvan Park is also home to Climb Nashville and McCabe Park Community Center, both great indoor options for year-round fitness.

Where to shop

It’s important to think about your daily routines and errands when looking for a new home, and Sylvan Park has you covered with your favorite big-name stores, as well as new local favorites. Close to the Nashville West shopping center and go-to stores like Publix, Kroger, and Target, Sylvan Park also has local grocery options Turnip Truck, Produce Place, and the Richland Park Farmers’ Market every Saturday. And as far as local boutiques go, Elle Gray is one you definitely shouldn’t miss.

Insider tip: Woodland Wine Merchant’s’ 6 bottles for $60 deal is one of the best-kept secrets in town. (Well, not for long!)

Where to eat

Start the day at Star Bagel, home to one of the best casual breakfast and lunch cafes on the west side. It’s located in the heart of Sylvan Park, where you’ll also find Edley’s, Pancho & Lefty’s, Neighbors, McCabe Pub, Answer. Caffe Nonna, and more.

Nearby, you’ll also find Nashville staples Hattie B’s, Otaku Ramen, Five Points Pizza, Five Daughters Bakery, and coffee shops Frothy Monkey, 8th & Roast, and Sump. Renowned chef Maneet Chauhan’s Indian street food restaurant, Chaatable, also calls Sylvan Park home, as well as L&L Marketplace, a destination with local shops and eateries.
